Truth

Stated on the front page of the SAT/ACT test: it is a “reasoning” test. (The
College Board has trademarked the word “reasoning”.)

As stated on the front page of the SAT/ACT test:  it is a “reasoning” test. The College Board has even trademarked the word “reasoning”. It has to be a universal test that anyone can do well on regardless of their academic background (public, private, or home school).

A 4.0 at one school is not the same as at another since they calculate scores differently. One school could be very hard and another easy, but students could have the same GPA.  On paper they would look the same. The SAT/ACT level the playing field for all students regardless of where they live or go to school. It’s the only fair way to compare all applicants.

The SAT/ACT and PSAT/NMSQT are tests of logic. Being able to understand the hidden logical patterns is what will help students score high on the test. They are testing how well you can answer questions under pressure in a short amount of time.

Definition of "Reasoning and Critical Thinking" – to use the faculty of reason to arrive at a conclusion – logical patterns. I.e. reasoning is a process of drawing a conclusion based on logical evidence.
